With just four weeks until Petaluma's premier non-profit gala fundraising event lands by the moonlit river and wetlands overlooking scenic Shollenberger Park, there's no time like the present for 600 of the city's movers and shakers of commerce, politics, education and industry to organize their individual outfits for an unforgettable evening of 'green' glamor!
Don't think for a minute that I'm suggesting that you shun your designer labels for this year's Sept 12 BASH, for despite the carbon footprint of a nice pair of Donald J Pliner, diamante sling-backs (made in the mountains of Italy -though his Peace for the Children profit sharing program might well justify a purchase) the BASH is one of the few extremely rare occasions for putting on the glad rags at any Petaluma event!
By going a little 'greener' this year, over at state-of-the-art South McDowell Landing, there's no reason (unless you have one) to break out the hemp gown and recycled rubber sandals. Not that we are an unfashionable lot, here in Southern Sonoma County, it's more that our gateway-to-wine-country-casual hearkens back to the predominant P'town culture of a largely down-to-earth attire! And so it's such a big deal to the latent fashionistas amongst us to have a fantastic reason to ramp up the evening wear on this one night of the year.
More than ever before, the need to fundraise for education here in the heartlands of California's monumentally ravaged school cuts makes the BASH an absolute MUST, in stiletto heels or ranch boots. Whatever floats your boat! It simply wouldn't be Petaluma with a dress code, now would it? But I, for one, make it no secret that it's a treat to see so many familiar faces out in full, glam and glitzy force for raising funds for our Educational Foundation's fantastic "Invest in Education" Program.
Made possible largely by Exchange Bank and Clover Stornetta Farms, with an incredible list of additional sponsorship from generous Southern Sonoma County businesses, The BASH provides funds for PEF grants that are so essential for the vital and innovative programs no longer available in Petaluma school budgets.
With a goal to raise over $250,000 this September 12th, the 2009 PEF BASH sets sail with a cocktail reception and full-bar, silent and live auctions, a sit-down, multi-course dinner with complimentary wine, magic Americana rock and blues performed by the Moonalice tribe of international master musicians.
The BASH is one of those events that you just don't want to end, and with this in mind, PEF Executive Director Janet Ramatici has staged a tantalizing, post-band, late-night dj disco dancing finale in the Chocolate Lounge. The BASH is expected to be a sell-out event again this year, with tickets selling like hot cakes this month.

I really admire this, I mean it really looks interesting! I'm actually glad to see all this stuff, to see that this world offers creativity and ideas other than what my lonesome small town provides. This world is quite the big place and to encounter a story such as this one just puts me out of my ordinary. I gotta hand it to whoever wrote this, you've really kept me updated! Now, let's just hope that I can come across another blog just as interesting :)
